Manual Installation of Display Specifiers

  1. Go to a Windows server and run ADSIEdit.msc (Fig.1). ADSIEdit.msc is part of the Windows Support Tools.
  2. Open the Configuration Container.
  3. Navigate to CN=DisplaySpecifiers, CN=409, CN=user-Display (Fig.1). CN=409 is the language identifier. Display Specifiers are setup per language, and “409” is the language identifier for English.
  4. Open the user-Display object in the attribute editor and then open the “adminPropertyPages” attribute. A list of DisplaySpecifiers apears, most of which are system default. Do NOT modify these values.
  5. Add a value like this: 12,{88D2CF03-1BF2-465C-8173-C22AD02DDEDF} (Fig.1). The “12” represents the order in which this DisplaySpecifier will appear in the Property pages and {88D2CF03-1BF2-465C-8173-C22AD02DDEDF} is the COM Class ID of the DisplaySpecifier. Please note that the DisplaySpecifier order number must always be +1 the highest number currently in the list.
  6. Repeat this process on the Group-Display object so that the custom tabs also appear in Groups.
