Office 365 Delivery Restrictions Tab

The O365 Delivery Restrictions tab allows you to control the groups from which the mailbox can accept messages. The tab has two sections:

  • Accept Messages From: where you can decide which groups (internal and external) are authorized to send messages to the mailbox.
  • Reject Messages From: where you can decide which groups are not authorized to send messages to the mailbox.

How to Apply Message Delivery Restrictions

To restrict mailbox message delivery to select groups:

In the Accept Messages From section, click the radio button next to Only senders in the following list: and click Add to add the groups who are allowed to send messages to the mailbox (Fig.1). The mailbox will now be able to receive messages ONLY from those groups listed in the Only senders in the following list: window.

To reject mailbox message delivery from external groups:

If you want the mailbox to reject messages from groups outside the organization, click the check box next to Require that all senders are authenticated (Fig.1).

To accept mailbox message delivery from all groups:

If you want the mailbox to accept delivery from all groups, click the radio button next to All senders (Fig.1).

Alternatively, if you don’t want the mailbox to reject any messages, click the radio button next to No senders (Fig.2).

To reject message delivery from select groups:

In the Reject Messages From section, click the radio button next to Senders in the following list: and click Add (Fig.2) to add groups whose messages you want the mailbox to reject. The mailbox will now reject messages ONLY from those groups listed in the Senders in the following list: window.
