The Best Kept Secret in 365 Command

Many people have already realized that 365 Command can help them manage their Office 365 subscription, but most people don’t realize it can also help them manage their Active Directory environment through the use of the 365 Command Active Directory Extensions. When you are running Directory Synchronization with Office 365, there are still a large number of attributes that have to be modified in your local Active Directory and then synchronized to Office 365.  When you try and modify these attributes on users and groups you get messages like: The operation on mailbox XXXX failed because it’s out of the current user’s write scope. The action ‘Set-Mailbox’, ‘EmailAddresses’, can’t be performed on the object XXXX because the object is being synchronized from your on-premises organization. This action should be performed on the object in your on-premises organization. The action ‘Set-DistributionGroup’, ‘RequireSenderAuthenticationEnabled’, can’t be performed on the object XXXX because the object is being synchronized from your on-premises organization. This action should be performed on the object in your on-premises organization. If you are already an Exchange Guru, then you probably already know how to properly modify attributes such as ProxyAddress, AuthOrig, UnAuthOrig, DLMembRejectPerms, msExchangeRequireAuthToSendTo, meExchangeHideFromAddressLists.  Even for Guru’s it’s a time consuming process because many of these fields require you input the Distinguished Name of the objects. This is where the 365 Command Active Directory Extensions (AD Extensions) come in and really make things easier for novices and gurus alike.  Best of all, it’s free with your subscription to 365 Command. […]
